Much of the work done in this class can only beĮvaluated subjectively. The breakdown of grade percentages is as follows: NOTE THAT THERE IS NEITHER MID-TERM NOR FINAL EXAM. There is 1 quiz on acoustics scheduled toward the end of the semester. I reserve the right to determine whether or not the work is "satisfactory." If it is not satisfactory, I will let you know and you can redo it without penalty. For each PROJECT not handed in or handed past its due date, your grade may be lowered by 1 increment. Satisfactory completion of all projects and written assignments handed in no more than one week past the designated due date will result in a grade of "A" for the assignments component of your final grade. Your SUMMARY WRITE-UPS of readings will likewise not be graded. Weekly PROJECT assignments are evaluated by written comments without a grade. YOUR SUMMARIES WILL FORM THE BASIS FOR IN-CLASS DISCUSSIONS. SUBMIT YOUR SUMMARIES ONLINE OR HAND IN HARD COPY ON DAY SPECIFIED. YOU CAN INCLUDE QUOTES, THOUGH MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AT LEAST ONE SUMMARY THOUGHT THAT'S IN YOUR OWN WORDS. FOR ALL ASSIGNED READINGS, WRITE A BRIEF SUMMARY OF ANYTHING THAT STRIKES YOU AS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO REMEMBER. Items indicated as READ and EXPLORE refer to materials in the MIT program or web articles with url links provided. IF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE APPROPRIATE REASON FOR DELAY, DISCUSS THIS WITH THE INSTRUCTOR. PROJECTS AND READING SUMMARIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED PAST THEIR DUE DATES. READING SUMMARIES ARE DUE ON DAYS SPECIFIED. PROJECTS ARE DUE BY THURSDAY OF THE WEEK SPECIFIED ALTHOUGH GETTING THEM IN BY TUESDAY IS PREFERRED. Being consistently late will be noted.ĪSSIGNMENT PROJECTS AND READING SUMMARIES: Unexcused absence, your grade may be reduced by 1 increment. You are expected to have 100% attendance.
